Many bloggers define themselves by their relationships with others: daughter, wife, sister, twin, aunt, manager, gimp, confidant, friend, random stranger.

I am all of these, but for this blog I am mostly defined by who I am not, namely a mother.

But just because I have been trying, and failing, to get knocked up since November 2006 I don’t use this blog to wallow.

By day, I am the beauty editor on ELLE magazine. I like my job because I love to write and I love to window shop fashion and beauty buys. But there is more to me than a bow and some blush. You see in the past year I have become a mother (to Little Miss P), a wife (to Mr Scruff, who only works so he can cycle there) and a home owner (we live in a fairy cottage that hasn’t been touched for fifty years), and suddenly the perfect fairycake recipe matters.

I started this blog so I can look back and remember. These are our adventures and experiences, the nice things we like, the bits we try and make and the stuff we always enjoy.

Mummy’s Busy World – by me, Little M is an honest and heart-warming blog by Little M, a half American-half Chilean bilingual tot growing up in the UK and his very busy, sleep deprived yet enthusiastic and funny mami on their parent-child journey. Little M reminds everyone what it’s like to see the world through the eyes of a child.

Jessica once dreamt of living in sunny Africa to escape a soggy love life. Then one day a kind man bought her back home to lovely Cornwall to roost. With cat, dog and three kids, she feels reluctantly middle-aged and what her single life was like before she can’t remember.

For part of her life she arranges the entire product testing for the Mother & Baby Awards. An oddly surreal experience since her older, ‘on-the-teen-threshold’ offspring have flipped the switch and she no longer feels completely wired into the ’mummy-zone’.

She also writes about life in Cornwall Today – a region with renowned good looks and delicious food – it’s been her longest and happiest relationship.

Blogging has become a means to articulate a mid-life in muddle.

A Stay At Home Mum of one, I swapped my busy working life of product launches for a busy life of being a mum, and trust me, being a mum is harder! I’m a serial blogger, social networking addict and a budding baker. I’m desperately trying to live a green life, while at the same time trying to make the world a little happier with home-made cakes and presents.

I started blogging when my Baby Girl (known as BG) was 12 weeks old and I haven’t looked back. In this blog I write about my journey of being a new mum, though technically I’m not a new mum anymore, but experiencing something new every day with my daughter makes me feel like I still am…

Who’s the Mummy is the true story of the life of Sally Whittle (that’s me) and my fantastic daughter Flea.

We live in Lancashire, although I sometimes venture further afield in my work as a freelance journalist, blogger and trainer. (Flea wants to be either a pirate or a burglar when she grows up). At the age of 4, Flea has recently taken up a position in Big School. I’ve no idea what this involves because any question on the subject is met with “I don’t remember”.

Who’s the Mummy is home to the Tots100 index, a monthly index of the UK’s top 100 parenting blogs. I hope you will use this index to discover more amazing parent bloggers. But… it’s quite a lot of work, so please don’t replicate it without giving credit.

This site was set up by parents for parents after we grew increasingly frustrated at coverage of family travel in mainstream publications.

Too often, we felt, it was aimed squarely at people who live in the south east, have oodles of cash to spare and are more interested in “keeping the kids busy” rather than happy.

What does that mean? Well how many features have you read where the gist seems to be how to keep your children distracted or from under your feet if they are bored? Rather than how to have a good time together?

We’re keen on video and are also very keen on helping readers get the best value from their holidays and days out, whatever their budget.

We don’t believe you have to spend a shedload of money to show your family a good time. We also provide help with directions, incorporating satnav and google map directions into posts where possible and we are always open to ideas as to where you think we should be reporting on.

Welcome! And thanks for stopping by.

My name is Deborah, but you can call me Met Mum. I am happily married to Big M, love of my life. Little L is our baby daughter, born in April 2009. Together we live in London.

In my former life I was working as an online editor for a youth magazine and wrote voluntarily for a German newspaper. That was before I finished my degree in economics and ended up in the grey corporate world of financial services on floor #19. Becoming a mother put my feet back on the ground and my fingers back on the keyboard.
It’s got Mum in the title, but I wouldn’t necessarily label my blog as a mummy blog only. Sure, sometimes I write about mummy stuff. Like breastfeeding, sleepless nights or trying to lose the last 3 pounds of pregnancy weight. But being a mum also means being a woman – and as such I blog about other things that pop into my sleep deprived brain. Fashion, food, family issues. Traveling abroad and being out and about in London. General nonsense.

Slummy Single Mummy is written by Jo Middleton, a freelance journalist and single mother of two daughters – one a typical teenager and the other an energetic seven year old.

Jo writes about the high and lows of parenting alone, with what she hopes is a sense of humour with just a dash of experienced parent cynicism. To be honest, it is mainly the lows that get the coverage, but then that’s the beauty of blogging as a single mother – it’s like having a virtual husband to vent your fury at.

If you have ever worried about your hands-off parenting style, sent a teenager to school in the rain because you don’t want to lend them your coat, or hidden your dirty dishes in the cupboard, then Jo’s down to earth family management style is sure to appeal.

Sleep is for the Weak is written by Josie, a twenty-something, slightly neurotic, seriously sleep deprived stay-at-home mum from Staffordshire in the UK.

Her days are mostly filled with doing her very best not to be too bad a mother to her rather demanding and spirited young son while stealing all available free time to write, think, grow and try to stay sane. Trying to juggle a blossoming writing career with a toddler that manages to tick all the ‘better keep an eye on this one’ boxes on her Health Visitor’s check lists isn’t always easy. Her portrayal of motherhood is often raw and painfully honest, but she survives with the help of a great deal of chocolate, a good splash of humour and by refusing to take anything too seriously.

When not hiding under her duvet and being hopelessly self-deprecating, Josie takes a lot of photographs, writes poetry, and runs a popular weekly writing workshop for bloggers.

She’d love if it if you stopped by, or sent her some cake. Either one…

At the respective ages of 49 and 40, my husband (the frog) and I, two sane adults who had never before given a single thought to becoming parents, decided we ‘may as well give it a go’. This meant getting pregnant which it turns out is like living in another body, in another country on, effectively, another planet… who knew. Nine months later our little potato came bobbing up into our living room and two of the most reluctant parents ever to agree to give birth were suddenly completely and utterly subjugate to his every whim. He is now 3. Blogging about it is, I suspect, cheaper than counselling.

Hot Cross Mum offers an honest, frank and humorous insight into the domestic rollercoaster of life as a Stay At Home Mum to two young boys. Recently listed in the Independent Top 50 Parenting Websites and Blogs and ranked in the UKs Top 100 Parenting Blogs Index, Hot Cross Mum’s warm and witty insights are clearly striking a chord with parents and bloggers alike. She says of herself, “My days are now less about deadlines and boardrooms and more about washing lines and bathrooms. As an antidote to washing floors, worrying about what to cook for tea and the pain of stepping on small cars in bare feet, I write about my life as a mother and other mother’s lives. It’s very therapeutic!”

I am Laura, mother of two (boy aged 3 and girl aged 5) and stepmother to 1 (aged 14).

I have been married to The Husband, a graphic designer, for 3 years, together for nearly 10. He spends most of his time wishing I was more interested in housework, looked like Andrea Corr and didn’t snore quite so loudly.

We have a dog, P’Nut, a chocolate brown labrador, who’s party piece is puking up which is nice.

I’m trying not to lose my marbles. I am aware that I have already mislaid some of them… one is stuck under the sofa, one in the Lego box and the 3 year old may have inadvertently swallowed the other.

This blog charts my journey through motherhood, the longest journey I’ve ever taken.
