Forbes magazine reveals Amazon founder, Jeff Bezos as the world’s third richest person.
Bezos is the owner of 18% shares in Amazon, which rose by 2% in trading on Thursday. Following the increase Forbes magazine estimated his net worth to be $65.3bn.
In the second quarter, Amazon’s revenue beat expectations, climbing 31% from last year to $30.4bn.
Forbes also reports that Bezos’s fortune is only surpassed by Microsoft founder Bill Gates, worth $78bn (£59bn), and the $73.1bn (£55bn) fortune of Zara founder Amancio Ortega.
No wonder Bezos is doing so well after the company’s shares spiked by 50% since February.
