As if all they do wasn’t enough, reports have surfaced that Amazon are considering a new addition to their business – broadband services.
According to reports there’s been an increase in the use of premium subscription services which require the use of the internet. Because of this, the online giant is considering becoming an internet service provider in Europe, planning to combine it’s retail and entertainment on Prime with broadband connectivity.
The actions of the company could seriously challenge the likes of Virgin and Sky in the UK.
Amazon have been looking into launching in Britain and Germany, rather than in the states, as both countries have law which makes it easier for newcomers to offer broadband, which has allowed companies such as John Lewis, SSE and the Post Office to start offering broadband.
It’s not clear if the company are definitely going ahead with the expansion but it comes at a time at which they are trying to sign up more customers to it’s Prime services.
