YouTube has been criticised over the way it chooses which videos will display adverts for a while now.

In April and May this year, YouTube took actions towards this and changed their algorithm so that it restricted advertising from videos showing racism or violence.

However, despite the step to make improvements, they are continuing to be criticised by YouTubers who believe to be wrongly classified by the algorithm and are losing out on monetizing their channel.

Since then, YouTube has made further improvements to their algorithm and have implemented a procedure where anyone who feels to be wrongly classified can appeal, this will also teach the algorithm to learn and improve.
